Arrangements
The Secretary of State approves external qualifications for use in England based on advice from the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA). In providing this advice, QCA takes account of changing needs and priorities expressed by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES), Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and other key partners, and applies its knowledge of external qualifications to determine those which meet the criteria described in Criteria for the Approval of External Qualifications and Withdrawal of Approval. Before providing advice, QCA consults awarding bodies and other interested parties on the proposed lists.
Qualifications may be given specific approval or general approval.Additions will be made to the list every month following approval and the consolidated list is available as a download from this website.
