<item><title>DCSF: Local Authority Measures for National Indicators supported by the Tellus3 Survey</title><pubDate>2009-01-07</pubDate><link>/rsgateway/DB/STR/d000828/index.shtml</link><description>Five National Indicators (NIs) are derived from data produced by the Tellus3 Survey. This Statistical Release will publish the performance indicators for local authorities in England and explain the method used to calculate each indicator as set out in the technical definition. <br /><br /><b>LOCAL AUTHORITY MEASURES FOR NATIONAL INDICATORS SUPPORTED BY THE TELLUS3 SURVEY</b><br /><br />After some further quality assurance errors have been discovered in the statistical release published on Wednesday 7th January. The errors are to some of the &quot;significant improvement&quot; calculations. The statistics provided for the baseline 2008-09 financial year are correct.<br /><br />Please accept our apologies while we check and revise the data. We shall republish them by Wednesday 14th January.</description></item><item><title>DIUS: Post-16 Education: Learner Participation and Outcomes in England 2007/08</title><pubDate>2008-12-18</pubDate><link>/rsgateway/DB/SFR/s000825/index.shtml</link><description>Statistics on Post-16 Further Education are published as &#39;Post-16 Education: Learner participation and outcomes in England 2007/08&#39; and include data from the whole of England.<br /><br />The latest statistics report on the academic years from 2005/06 to 2007/08 and update those previously released on 22nd May 2008 and 10th April 2008.<br /><br />Key Points:<ul><b>Young People (16 - 18 year olds)</b><li>The total volume of young people participating in LSC-funded Further Education (including through FE organisations and WBL, but excluding school sixth forms) is 1,026,500. This is an increase of 2.3 per cent on 2006/07.</li><li>135,000 young people achieved full level 2 qualifications in the 2007/08 academic year. This is an increase of 2.7 per cent from 2006/07.</li><li>158,300 young people achieved full level 3 qualifications in the 2007/08 academic year. This is an increase of 7.2 per cent from 2006/07.</li><br /><b>Adults (19 year olds and older)</b><li>299,000 adults achieved full level 2 qualifications in the 2007/08 academic year. This is an increase of 44.6 per cent from 2006/07.</li><li>127,900 adults achieved full level 3 qualifications in the 2007/08 academic year. This is an increase of 14.2 per cent from 2006/07.</li><li>The total volume of adults participating in LSC-funded Further Education (including through FE organisations, WBL, TtG and ASL, but excluding Higher Education) is 3,095,400.</li><br /><b>Apprenticeships</b><li>Apprenticeship starts have increased from 184,400 in 2006/07 to 224,800 in 2007/08, a rise of 21.9%.</li><li>Apprenticeship completions have increased from 111,800 in 2006/07 to 112,600 in 2007/08, an overall rise of 0.7%.</li><li>The overall apprenticeship completion rate has increased from 58.9 0n 2006/07 to 63.7 0n 2007/08.</li><br /><b>Train to Gain</b><li>The number of Train to Gain starts in 2007/08 was 331,800, a new high. 169,200 adults achieved a TtG qualification in 2007/08.</li></ul><br /><br /><b>Update 29th December 2008</b> It has been necessary to revise the Statistical First Release as published on 18th December. The revisions made for data relating to 2006/7 and 2007/8 are to correct an inconsistency in the methodology used in breakdowns for the category &#39;Below Level 2 (excluding Skills for Life)&#39; as presented in tables 1 and 3 to 6. These changes lead to downward revisions for this category but does not affect the total learner numbers.</description></item></channel>
