Education

  • Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £1110 per pupil in real terms to Cambridgeshire Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 41 per cent.
  • The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 4430 in 1999 to 405 by January 2005.
  • 1020 MORE teaching assistants than in 1999
  • 1110 MORE support staff than in 1999
  • Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 79 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 66 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 75 per cent from 66 per cent in 1997.
  • Provisional figures for 2005 show that 82 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 78 per cent in mathematics in Cambridgeshire LA.
  • GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Cambridgeshire LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 52 per cent in 1998 to 58 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
  • In 2005 there were 10700 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
