Education

  • Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £1060 per pupil in real terms to Bracknell Forest Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 36 per cent.
  • The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 894 in 1999 to 0 by January 2005.
  • 70 MORE teaching assistants than in 1999
  • 190 MORE support staff than in 1999
  • Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 82 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 70 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 77 per cent from 67 per cent in 1997.
  • Provisional figures for 2005 show that 82 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 77 per cent in mathematics in Bracknell Forest LA.
  • GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Bracknell Forest LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 45 per cent in 1998 to 53 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
  • In 2005 there were 2400 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
