Education

  • Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £1090 per pupil in real terms to Milton Keynes Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 35 per cent.
  • The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 2282 in 1998 to 99 by January 2005.
  • 270 MORE teaching assistants than in 1998
  • 710 MORE support staff than in 1998
  • Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 69 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 59 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 68 per cent from 55 per cent in 1997.
  • Provisional figures for 2005 show that 72 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 69 per cent in mathematics in Milton Keynes LA.
  • GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Milton Keynes LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 35 per cent in 1998 to 51 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
  • In 2005 there were 5100 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
