Education

  • Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £1060 per pupil in real terms to Buckinghamshire Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 36 per cent.
  • The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 6477 in 1998 to 412 by January 2005.
  • 500 MORE teaching assistants than in 1998
  • 1070 MORE support staff than in 1998
  • Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 80 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 73 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 77 per cent from 69 per cent in 1997.
  • Provisional figures for 2005 show that 84 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 79 per cent in mathematics in Buckinghamshire LA.
  • GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Buckinghamshire LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 60 per cent in 1998 to 67 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
  • In 2005 there were 10300 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
