Education

  • Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £1310 per pupil in real terms to Kingston Upon Hull, City of Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 44 per cent.
  • The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 3490 in 1997 to 114 by January 2005.
  • 230 MORE teaching assistants than in 1997
  • 350 MORE support staff than in 1997
  • Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 66 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 50 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 71 per cent from 52 per cent in 1997.
  • Provisional figures for 2005 show that 71 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 72 per cent in mathematics in Kingston Upon Hull, City of LA.
  • GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Kingston Upon Hull, City of LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 23 per cent in 1998 to 43 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
  • In 2005 there were 5200 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
