Education
- Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £1060 per pupil in real terms to Havering Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 36 per cent.
- The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 2475 in 1997 to 0 by January 2005.
- 510 MORE teaching assistants than in 1997
- 600 MORE support staff than in 1997
- Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 80 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 71 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 78 per cent from 67 per cent in 1997.
- Provisional figures for 2005 show that 85 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 81 per cent in mathematics in Havering LA.
- GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Havering LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 50 per cent in 1998 to 60 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
- In 2005 there were 4400 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
