Education
- Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £1520 per pupil in real terms to Haringey Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 40 per cent.
- The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 531 in 1997 to 312 by January 2005.
- 550 MORE teaching assistants than in 1997
- 790 MORE support staff than in 1997
- Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 67 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 55 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 66 per cent from 54 per cent in 1997.
- Provisional figures for 2005 show that 73 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 68 per cent in mathematics in Haringey LA.
- GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Haringey LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 27 per cent in 1998 to 46 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
- In 2005 there were 5600 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
