Education

  • Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £1260 per pupil in real terms to Enfield Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 38 per cent.
  • The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 4330 in 1997 to 0 by January 2005.
  • 800 MORE teaching assistants than in 1997
  • 1040 MORE support staff than in 1997
  • Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 78 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 59 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 72 per cent from 59 per cent in 1997.
  • Provisional figures for 2005 show that 77 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 73 per cent in mathematics in Enfield LA.
  • GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Enfield LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 42 per cent in 1998 to 51 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
  • In 2005 there were 6300 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
