Education

  • Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £1630 per pupil in real terms to Ealing Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 48 per cent.
  • The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 2644 in 1997 to 31 by January 2005.
  • 350 MORE teaching assistants than in 1997
  • 530 MORE support staff than in 1997
  • Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 77 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 62 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 73 per cent from 60 per cent in 1997.
  • Provisional figures for 2005 show that 79 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 75 per cent in mathematics in Ealing LA.
  • GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Ealing LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 45 per cent in 1998 to 57 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
  • In 2005 there were 7000 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
