Education

  • Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £1120 per pupil in real terms to Bromley Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 37 per cent.
  • The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 6008 in 1997 to 188 by January 2005.
  • 350 MORE teaching assistants than in 1997
  • 680 MORE support staff than in 1997
  • Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 83 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 74 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 78 per cent from 72 per cent in 1997.
  • Provisional figures for 2005 show that 84 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 77 per cent in mathematics in Bromley LA.
  • GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Bromley LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 55 per cent in 1998 to 63 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
  • In 2005 there were 6000 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
