Education

  • Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £1590 per pupil in real terms to Hammersmith and Fulham Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 37 per cent.
  • The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 536 in 1997 to 0 by January 2005.
  • 190 MORE teaching assistants than in 1997
  • 300 MORE support staff than in 1997
  • Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 79 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 58 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 76 per cent from 61 per cent in 1997.
  • Provisional figures for 2005 show that 79 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 74 per cent in mathematics in Hammersmith and Fulham LA.
  • GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Hammersmith and Fulham LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 44 per cent in 1998 to 59 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
  • In 2005 there were 3400 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
