DCSF: Benchmarking Tables of Local Authority Planned Expenditure 2009-10

Description	The local authority benchmarking tables of planned expenditure are drawn from published Section 52 statements. Local Authorities are required under Section 52 of the Schools Standards and Framework Act 1998 to prepare and submit an education budget statement every year. Section 230 of the Local Government Act 1972 also gives the Secretary of State for Children Schools and Families powers to collect financial information in relation to the children's social services element of the data collection. The local authority benchmarking tables are published each year. This is the first occasion they have been released as official statistics.
