The latest national statistics on Small Area Pupil Attainment produced by the Department for Children, Schools and Families were released on 28th August 2008 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics AuthorityUK Statistics Authority

DCSF: Neighbourhood Statistics - Announcement of the release of small area National Curriculum Assessment, GCSE and Equivalent Attainment and Post 16 Attainment by Pupil Characteristics in England, 2007

DescriptionStatistics on Small Area Pupil Attainment are published as Neighbourhood Statistics - Announcement of the release of Small Area Pupil Attainment by Pupil Characteristics in England 2007 and include data from England.

The latest statistics report on the period 2006/07 and update those previously released on 11 10 2007.

The key points from the latest release are:
  • The tables reinforce previous messages about patterns of attainment and about the relationship between attainment and gender at National, Regional and Local Authority (LA) level, and Local Authority District (LAD) level of school location. These tables also provide the first opportunity to present 2007 attainment at Middle Layer Super Output Area (MSOA) level of school location for KS1 and KS2.
  • Girls continue to perform better than boys in the majority of LADs at KS1, KS2 and KS3, particularly in English subjects, but the gap has closed since 2006 in most of them. At KS4 and KS5, girls also outperform boys in all but a few LADs.
