Participation in Education, Training and Employment by 16-18 Year Olds in England: 2005 and 2006 and Participation in Education and Training by 16 and 17 Year Olds in each Local Area in England: 2004 and 2005

Description	This is an update of SFR21/2006 released in June 2006. In addition it is updating tables from SFR13/2006 released in March 2006 (local participation). The SFR provides information on the percentages of 16, 17 and 18 year olds in England (both separate age groups and the whole group combined) in education and training and those who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) for 2005 (revising provisional figures released last year) and 2006 (provisional). Key analyses are by age, gender, type of learning, institution (FE college, schools, etc), labour market status, highest qualification being studied. There are additional tables showing trends over a longer time period. In addition there are local tables for 16 and 17 year olds for end 2004 and end 2005 by LA, local LSC area and region. This SFR includes detail on the type of education and training (schools, colleges, etc, full-time, part-time, etc) some information by gender and a historic time series for participation back to 1994. The SFR draws together information from the different post-16 learning options (school, FE colleges, work-based learning, Higher Education, etc) to give a coherent and comprehensive picture of the participation of 16-18 year olds.
