The Characteristics of High Attainers (Internet Only)

DescriptionThis Bulletin primarily discusses high attainment at pupil and school level. High attaining pupils' characteristics, prior attainment, subject choice and performance and attended schools are analysed. For these purposes, a variety of measures of high attainment are considered, including pupils flagged as gifted and talented by schools and early GCSE entrants. However, the focus is the top 10% of pupils at key stage 2 and 3 using finely graded average point scores, alongside mathematics and English scores, and the top 10% of pupils at key stage 4 using capped GCSE point score.
