The Characteristics of Low Attaining Pupils

DescriptionThis Bulletin discusses the characteristics of pupils defined as 'low attaining' in terms of Key Stage test and GCSE results. The focus is on the bottom quartile (25%) of pupils in terms of average points at each Key Stage and below 'expected' levels at Key Stage 1-3. The bulletin concentrates mainly on Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4, to provide results from primary and secondary pupils. Some additional results are given for Key Stages 1 and 3.

The results here complement those already published on the test results for pupils with various background characteristics. Coverage is maintained schools in England, except where otherwise stated.
