DCSF: Language Learning at Key Stage 3 - Impact of the Key Stage 3 Modern Foreign Languages Framework and Changes to the Curriculum on Provision and Practice Research Information

DescriptionThis research project investigates language learning at Key Stage 3 (KS3) in order to understand the impact on provision and practice at this level of the Framework for Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) and other current initiatives, such as regulatory changes to language learning at KS2 and KS4. This is a two-year longitudinal project (2006-2008). Two quantitative surveys with heads of language departments were conducted in the Autumn of 2006 and 2007. Qualitative fieldwork took place in 16 case study schools (during the Spring of 2007 and 2008).
