DCSF: Transition Information Sessions - Year Two Evaluation Research Information

DescriptionTransition Information Sessions (TIS) form part of the parenting support core offer within the Extended Schools prospectus Access to opportunities and services for all. They aim to lay the foundations of effective home-school partnerships; give parents information, ideas and an opportunity for discussion about parenting issues, including how to keep their child safe, happy and learning; and signpost parents to local and national sources of information, advice and support This research assessed the effectiveness of the processes of planning and delivering TIS and to establish their impact on parents and schools who took part. The evaluation combined quantitative and qualitative methods with approaches including a parent survey (2483), in-depth interviews with parents and staff (96) and observations of TIS sessions.
