3C: How is success in meeting the needs and interests of learners recognised?
The following extracts from ALI and Ofsted inspection reports illustrate effective practice in meeting the needs and interests of learners.
Adult Learning Inspectorate | OFSTEDWhere one learner was unable to attend the Bestco's training centre to attend key skills training, a member of Bestco's staff visited the learner in the workplace to carry out the training.
E2E learners gain maximum benefit from particularly well-established partnerships with the local youth service.
All programmes provide appropriate literacy and numeracy support, either as an integrated part of specialist skills development, or by additional learning sessions.

During recruitment, learners complete a series of tests to assess their numeracy and literacy skills. This is effective in identifying the additional support required by each learner and the most appropriate programme for them to follow. A number of learners have had their training programmes adjusted to more closely suit their needs as a result of this process.

Protocol Skills has sound measures to keep its learners motivated and committed to success. It has improved the initial assessment process to ensure that learners work towards a qualification which is achievable and interesting for them.
There is effective partnership work with external agencies and employers to enhance learning. Partnerships with employers promote learning and meet employers' and learners' needs. Procedures are in place to ensure that employers provide learners with meaningful work experience.
The range of learning activities is very good on E2E programmes. In addition to literacy and numeracy skills work, learners follow a wide range of externally accredited qualifications. Learners have the option during their vocational training to gain work experience in construction, horticulture, engineering, business administration and retailing. The wide and imaginative programme enables learners to go forward into suitable career paths they previously thought were unattainable.
