HOW TO READ THE TABLES
The performance indicators in the pilot tables are calculated in the same way as those in the main tables. The only difference is the cohort of students on which the calculations are based. At present, the Secondary (GCSE and Equivalent) Tables report at age 15 regardless of the stage of education the students have reached. The performance indicators calculated for the pilot tables are based on the results achieved by students at the end of Key Stage 4, regardless of their age. For students working in their chronological year group, finishing Key Stage 4 will coincide with the end of their Year 11 studies, but students working out of their year group may finish Key Stage 4 at a different time. To allow easy comparisons to be made during the pilot evaluation, figures are shown for both the age 15 and Key Stage 4 cohorts.
The pilot tables are presented in the same way as usual, except that each box is divided in two by a diagonal line. This is to distinguish between results for the end of Key Stage 4 cohort and the age 15 cohort. The figures calculated specifically for the pilot, for all students completing Key Stage 4 regardless of their age, are shown in the top part of the box in the shaded section. The figures shown below the diagonal line, in the un-shaded section, are for the age 15 cohort and are shown for comparison purposes. They are the same figures we published this year in the Secondary (GCSE and Equivalent) Tables, with the exception of the final two columns for which the age 15 figures have been calculated specifically for this pilot.
