The Parent's Charter and the Charter Mark

The Parent's Charter

Performance tables are one of the key documents published under the Parent's Charter. The first Charter was published in 1991. It signalled the start of an information revolution to extend parental choice and raise standards.

Important changes have taken place in schools since 1991. Parent's rights have been strengthened. An updated Parent's Charter was issued in June 1994.

It explains what parents can expect and how they can become more effective partners in their children's education.
