School and College (Post 16) Performance Tables 2001

INTRODUCTION

These performance tables provide an invaluable source of information for young people and their parents on the achievements of sixth form students in their local secondary schools and Further Education sector colleges, and how they compare with other schools and colleges in the area and in England as a whole. The adjacent map shows the area covered by this booklet.

The entry for each school and college gives background information on each school and college, including its address and telephone number, and the achievements of their students over the 1999/2000 and 2000/2001 academic years in A level and Advanced Supplementary examinations, Advanced GNVQs and in a number of other advanced and intermediate qualifications. Results in GCSEs and GNVQs in schools can be found in the separate secondary school performance tables.

You will find the information in this booklet helpful if you are a parent or student considering the options available to young people after they reach 16. You will be interested to see how the results of each school and college compare. You may wish to discuss the results with the staff at the school or college. How do they feel the school or college is performing, and what plans do they have to improve their students' results? How can you support the work of the school or college and, if you are a parent, what more can you do to help your own child do better?
