The Parent Know How programme aims to deliver better outcomes for children and parents by ensuring parents have access to the information, advice and guidance they need to support them in their parenting.
Parent Know How, which is worth up to £44 million, will be delivered from 2008 through to the end of the 2010-11 financial year.
Information on the background to Parent Know How is available on this site.
The Parent Know How programme supports those in parenting roles - mothers, fathers, carers and other adults with parental responsibility - in a range of ways, including:
-
Telephone helplines – grants have been awarded to give stability to seven helpline providers and create incentives for year-on-year performance improvements.
-
New communications platforms, like text messaging, instant messaging, social networking tools, and improved internet use. Eleven new services are being supported.
-
A new web search interface for parents and those working with them to find information about local and national sources of parenting support – combining data from sources like local authorities and Ofsted. This interface will be live by September 2009.
- Printed content that reaches parents who would prefer not to use telephone helplines or internet technologies.
