Priorities & progress

  • providing support for best practice.

Building capacity and prioritising learning:

Improving understanding:

  • sharing information to keep children safe
  • improving access to and understanding of key data to help keep children safe and improve their lives
  • referral and assessment systems where children are at risk of harm due to domestic violence, adult substance misuse or mental ill health
  • embedding the lessons of serious case reviews (SCRs) and child death overview panels (CDOPs).

Providing support for best practice:

  • stock take of improvement activity in safeguarding
  • a review of solution focused brief therapy
  • new safeguarding indicators and statutory targets that drive improved performance and better outcomes
