Academy Expressions of Interest

Date requested: June 30, 2006

Summary:

Electronic copies of Expressions of Interest for Academies open or in implementation.

Release:

On 28 June 2007, the Department for Education and Skills was replaced by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, and the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills. The rights and liabilities of the Secretary of State for Education and Skills will be transferred to the new Secretaries of State by Transfer of Functions Orders. The contracts remain valid and enforceable by all parties.

At the early stages of an Academies development three main things are required: a sponsor for the Academy, support of the Local Authority the Academy is situated in and approval from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).  Once these are all secured an Expression of Interest (EOI) is drawn up and signed by all parties to formally commit to the Academy. An EOI is superceded by a Funding Agreement when it is signed.

These documents are added on an ongoing basis. If you wish to access an EOI that is not available on this page then please visit the Academies standards site at http://www.standards.dcsf.gov.uk/academies/ for details of how to contact us.

The sections of these agreements that are exempt under the Freedom of Information Act have been removed.

The Memorandum and Articles of Association for the academies can be obtained from Companies House.
