Addressing the issue of exclusion from school and providing alternatives to mainstream schooling are key elements of the Department’s Behaviour and Attendance strategy, vital to raising standards of attainment and achievement.

This website aims to provide LEAs, schools, governors, parents and any other interested parties with general information on the Department’s strategy, specific information on the various initiatives that are underway in this area and examples of good practice in place.

Please see article and links in Guidance section of this website to new guidance on admissions protocols for hard to place pupils and on schools working together to manage excluded pupils and those at risk of exclusion.
