Implementation

LAs have a new role in bringing new partners into the school system, thanks to their changed status as strategic commissioners. LAs can play a role in seeking out partners or sponsors for new schools, or broker partnerships for existing schools.

As the champion of children and young people, LAs will ensure that they receive the best possible service from schools. This will include encouraging schools to look beyond the LA to other partners, in order to bring in expertise to help to raise standards. LAs also have a role in enabling schools to use commissioning as an effective tool for improving outcomes.

Resources
A range of complementary resources, including full versions of the Pathfinders' project reports, are available under the following subject-areas:

- Market development
- Fair access
- Leading change in schools
- Schools as providers and commissioners

Implementation is the third stage of four in the Schools Commissioning Cycle (as explained in the guide). Resources for the other three stages are available on the Establishing Demand and Planning pages.
