Raising Standards - Improving Outcomes
Since April 2008, LAs have been under a landmark duty to improve the five Every Child Matters outcomes for all young children in their area and reduce inequalities between them. This joint ministerial letter highlights the importance of LAs, Jobcentre Plus and the National Health Service (Primary Care Trusts and Strategic Health Authorities) developing ever stronger and more effective local partnerships, to meet the individual needs of young children and their parents.
The Childcare Act 2006 sets out clear expectations about what local partnerships should focus on to improve children's outcomes, while providing the flexibility for local solutions and encouraging local innovation. To support LAs and their partners to fulfil their duties the DCSF, DH and DWP have published statutory guidance, Raising Standards – Improving Outcomes.
Hard copies of the guidance can be order by emailing Prolog quoting reference number 00080-2008 DOM -EN.
