16- to 18-Year Olds NEET - Connexions Partnership Data 2002, 2004 and 2005

Provider:

Topics:

Type:
Information and guidance
Date:
December 2002

This data on young people's current activity is taken from client management systems maintained by Connexions Partnerships. It relates to the activity of 16-, 17- and 18-year-olds on 30 November 2002, 2004 and 2005. Data for 2006 onwards can be found on the NEET website.

The number of 16- to 18-year-olds NEET in each area is an estimate, based on the percentage NEET multiplied by the total percentage of young people known to the Connexions Services in that area. Data may exclude some young people educated at home or leaving independent schools. Young people in custodial institutions, those taking a gap year, and refugees or asylum seekers not yet granted citizenship are excluded from the NEET figures.

The DfES (now DCSF) published annual estimates of participation in June each year. The data available here will differ from these estimates given differences in timing and definitions used.
