This case study describes now North Lincolnshire Council has integrated field staff from multi-disciplinary agencies to provide a focus on preventative services. 

The case explains how service design has required collaborative and strategic thinking, based on evidence. It also looks at the importance of commitment to change by all staff, and in promoting the right messages.

Outcomes include:

• increased focus on prevention, early intervention and support for families
• offending among looked-after children has reduced from 6.6 per cent in 2005 to 2.8 per cent in 2006
• placement stability and permanence for looked-after children is up from 44 per cent in 2005 to 56 per cent in 2006
• re-registrations on the Child Protection Register have dropped from 18 per cent in 2005 to 11.5 per cent in 2006.
