Local programmes evaluation

Sure Start local programmes (SSLPs) are a key part of delivering the Government’s aim to support children, families and communities through the integration of early education, childcare, health and family support.

They are based in areas of disadvantage and aim to improve the health and well being of families and young children under four, so that children have a greater opportunity to flourish when they go to school.

There are two levels of evaluation of SSLPs – the national evaluation which looks at all the programmes as a whole, and local level, where each programme undertakes an evaluation of their own programme:
