A revised edition of Getting maternity services right for pregnant teenagers and young fathers has been published (November 2009). See Guidance page for more information.

The Government response to the 5th annual report of the Teenage Pregnancy Independent Advisory Group (TPIAG) was published on 11 November 2009. The Government welcomes the recommendations made in TPIAG’s 5th annual report and has taken most of them forward, including making sex and relationship education statutory within Personal, social, health and economic education from 2011, and is investing more than £45 million in improving young people’s awareness and access to effective contraception.

On 26 February 2009, Public Health Minister Dawn Primarolo and Young People's Minister Beverley Hughes announced an extra £20.5 million to help young people get better access to contraception, support for teenagers and to raise awareness of the risks of unprotected sex. On 23 October 2008, the DCSF published the report on the delivery of Sex and Relationships Education (SRE) in schools, and the Government response to the report. For more information, and to download the documents, go to the TeacherNet website.

The Independent Advisory Group on Teenage Pregnancy (TPIAG) published its fifth annual report on 16 July 2008. TPIAG makes recommendations to Government on implementing the Teenage Pregnancy Strategy.
