Culture, sport, play
When asked what they regard as their priorities, children and young people consistently reply that they would like more ‘things to do and places to go’.
The DCSF is working with the Youth Sport Trust and Sport England to ensure that all children and young people have access to a varied and stimulating range of sports. Encouraging young people to adopt healthier lifestyles, enjoying sport in a safe environment and striving to achieve success are all key aims of the Every Child Matters agenda.
The Play Strategy, launched by the Department in December 2008, sets out the steps that the Department is taking to ensure that children and young people have opportunities to engage in more physical activity through play.
