Targeted youth support (TYS): 'Deepen' activities hints and tips
This section contains hints and tips supporting the activities in the 'Deepen' stage of the targeted youth support (TYS) change process, which culminates in the 'Decision Point 2' presentation. The hints and tips come from partners in children's trusts who are redesigning their TYS.
The hints and tips are not exhaustive, and while they offer useful guidance and help to accelerate and deliver effective and sustainable change, there is no obligation to follow or implement them.
If you would like to add to this list of hints and tips, email writing@remodelling.org.

'Decision Point 2' presentation
- Consider these questions when deciding your process for 'Decision Point 2'
- How long have you got?
- How many people are attending the event?
- How are you going to manage questions?
- How will agreement be reached about the priority areas for the subsequent 'Develop' and 'Deliver' stages of the change process?
- Ensure top level buy-in from the director of children's services and the senior management group. This includes pre-presenting the 'Decision Point 2' outline to key senior stakeholders before the formal presentation. Without this buy-in decision making and implementation are difficult. Pre-presenting 'Decision Point 2' outcomes gives the authority explicit ownership.
- It can be helpful to tailor the 'Decision Point 2'presentation according to different audiences. Example uses include:
- a detailed version for the sponsor, project manager and senior management group
- a detailed display for the practitioners who contributed in focused interviews, multi-agency workshops, etc., this will give them confidence that their detailed views and expertise were incorporated in the process
- a summary version for members of the senior management group to cascade within their own organisations
- a summary version for young people and members of the community, on display in a public place
- a single page key messages sheet for incorporation in newsletters.
