Targeted youth support (TYS): 'Deepen' activities
The sequence of activities below takes you through the 'Deepen' stage. The activities ensure the achievements for 'Deepen' are accomplished before moving onto the next stage of the change process.
You can read about how you will know if you have completed this stage successfully on the achievements page, which links the activities below with specific achievements.
There are also a series of hints and tips from the pathfinders to support you in this part of the change process.
The links below take you to resources for each of the activities:
- Generic deepening workshop. This workshop helps identify the underlying root causes of issues or problems identified during the 'Discover' stage.
- Journeymapping the current top 20 challenging cases for children's trust partners. This workshop is based on the journeymapping exercise in the multiagency workshop in the 'Discover' stage. It draws on the current or emerging caseload in the children's trust to probe service provision for those young people and families who raise most concern.
- Thresholds workshop. The workshop helps identify the thresholds used by different agencies and services and understand their implications.
- Risk and resilience workshop. The workshop helps different agencies and services better understand the risks facing young people and how their resilience to these risks can be increased.
- 'Week in the life of' tool. This tool is for understanding how individuals, in reality, spend their time. It helps identify opportunities for improving workload and informs thinking about how people's roles can be more effective.
- Developing and delivering the 'Decision Point 2' presentation. This is the final version of the presentation, including data and analysis from 'Discover' and 'Deepen', given to the senior management team. The meeting includes agreeing the priorities for the 'Develop' and 'Deliver' stages of the process.
Throughout the activities above, you should use the additional resources available in this toolkit to help probe the issues in depth. The generic and prompt questions are especially helpful in uncovering deep information about the underlying causes of the red and green flags identified in the journey mapping exercise of the multiagency workshop.
