The Client Caseload Information System (CCIS) holds a range of information on young people aged 13–19 in order to assess progress in local areas on a range of measures, including cutting the number of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET).

The system is currently run by Connexions partnerships. From 2008 LAs will be responsible for delivering the Connexions service. The CCIS is an integral part of the delivery of this service.

All lead professionals in the area working with young people can be given access to their local CCIS. This is strictly controlled through role based security and only with consent of the young person. The system can also support ContactPoint by providing basic up-to-date information on young people.

The DCSF collates the top level statistics into a national system. We use the information to judge the effectiveness of local areas' interventions with young people. Nationwide we also look at the activities of young people on completing compulsory education and the progress of local areas towards their NEET targets.
