Department for Children, Schools and Families
The Departmental Investment Strategy 2005

In July 2004 the Government published the 2004 Spending Review White Paper. This, together with additional investment announced in the Budget 2005, sets out ambitious new plans for investment for 2005-06 to 2007-08. The Government is committed to demonstrating how departments plan to use their capital funding in this period, by setting out the proposed new investment in the context of the management of existing assets.

This Departmental Investment Strategy is the result. It sets the DfES' investment in the education and skills estates in the context of the Department's strategic aims and the underpinning PSA targets. It provides a description of the size and condition of the asset base in each of the education and skills sectors, strategies for disposing of surplus assets, future investment plans and the procedures and systems through which the DfES monitors investment and ensures value for money.
