The CPR3 statistical return consists of two parts. Part A collects information about the referral of children to children's social care and the subsequent assessment procedure. Many of these children go on to receive a service as Children in Need. Part B collects further information about those children who enter the child protection system.
The CPR3 return and guidance are consistent with the inter-agency guidance Working Together to Safeguard Children. The return is completed online; CPR3 form (Excel 103kb) is for illustrative purposes.
