Every Child Matters
Every Child Matters: Change for Children is a cross-government programme in England which aims to provide improved support and opportunities for all children and young people, to enable them to:
- be healthy:
- stay safe:
- enjoy and achieve;
- make a positive contribution;
- achieve economic well-being.
The website provides links to resources and information for everyone involved in planning and delivering integrated, child-centred services for parents, carers, children and young people.
Sure Start
Sure Start is a Government programme which aims to improve outcomes and opportunities for children, parents and communities by:
- increasing the availability of childcare for all children;
- improving health and emotional development for young children;
- supporting parents at home and at work.
These aims will be achieved by:
- developing services nationally with particular help targeted on disadvantaged areas, alongside financial support for parents needing childcare;
- extending the Sure Start approach to all services for young children and parents.
The policies and programmes of Sure Start apply in England only. Responsibility for early education and childcare in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland lies with their separate administrations.

Within these areas there are time-saving tools, career development information and free teaching resources.
Directgov
Directgov contains the widest range of government information and services. The site provides extensive advice for parents, including information on finding a school, healthy eating, special educational needs and youth justice. In addition to Government departments, the site also links through to other relevant websites and information sources that can offer additional trusted advice and support.
ParentsCentre
ParentsCentre provides information and support for parents on how to help with their child's learning from birth to 19 years old. The site covers a whole range of issues that you and your child may encounter, from finding childcare, homework and exams, to bullying and truancy. The forum and ask-an-expert section allow parents to share experiences and put questions to the panel of experts.
