Department for Children, Schools and Families

LONDON 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games

Next steps

For Us
The Department will seek views on our plans from our main delivery partners and stakeholders, including 2012 Games Partners, the GLA, the Devolved Administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and regional representatives.

We will also be seeking views from children, young people, schools, colleges and universities.

Together with other government departments, we will publish our plans in full towards the end of 2007.

For You

  • Do you agree with the main objectives of the plan?
  • Do you agree that we are right to focus on using the 2012 Games to build on and add value to, existing strategies as far as possible, rather than inventing new proposals?
  • Do you feel that the actions to meet those objectives are appropriate? Are we missing anything?
  • Are your organisations planning significant activities that would support the objectives in the Plan that we have not yet recognised or taken account of?

If you wish to comment on our plans as they currently stand, please contact us.

For Schools
School and college heads will want to start thinking about how their schools and colleges can take part in the build-up to 2012 and use the Games to enthuse young people. For example by encouraging 2012-related cultural and healthy lifestyles projects, ceremonies and other whole-school activities.

To help you do that, Key Dates for Schools and Colleges in the run-up to 2012 are some examples of what you can expect to see.

The Department has produced leaflets aimed at young people of primary and secondary school age and ask head teachers, the Connexions service, Young Ambassadors, and others, to make these leaflets available to young people.

The leaflets can be viewed, downloaded and ordered online.
