LONDON 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games

Securing a legacy for young people and learners

The 2012 London Games will be a wonderful sporting and cultural festival - a spectacular series of events that will excite the country.
Longer term, the Games should bring a range of social and economic benefits to both London and the nation.

The Department is responsible for maximising these benefits in the field of education and skills, so that the Games have a long-term impact on the lives of learners, particularly young people of the 2012 Olympic generation.

The Department's 2012 education programme will help boost participation and achievement in sport, classroom learning and a range of wider developmental activities.

We are currently developing this programme with a variety of external partners including the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).
