Diploma communication resources

A set of the latest Diploma marketing materials is now available.

The updated materials have been sent to schools and colleges, consortia, 14-19 leads in local authorities, and Connexions partnerships.

Also in the set is the Diploma Marketing Toolkit, which offers a range of materials that will allow those delivering the Diploma, and other partners, to produce marketing and publicity packs tailored to meet local needs and audiences.

January Guarantee

On Wednesday 18 November, the Prime Minister announced plans to build on the September guarantee approach by guaranteeing the offer of a place on an Entry to Employment programme to all 16 and 17 year olds who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) in January 2010.

This guarantee will be backed by £40m of additional investment from the Department and provides an excellent opportunity to help these young people to reengage quickly in positive and productive learning, and reduce the risk of long term disengagement.

More detail about how the January Guarantee will be delivered is set out in this guidance.

Gateway 4 - Guidance for Consortia

We have now published guidance for consortia. This focuses on the operational role of consortia and is for those applying to deliver new lines from 2011. It provides:

  • information on the current context
  • developments since the last Gateway
  • how to apply for new lines

Planning towards the 2013 entitlement

Gateway 4 is a key milestone in local authority and consortia planning for the delivery of all 17 Diploma lines in their area. We have published some key principles for Gateway 4, to help local authorities (LAs) and consortia plan for the 2013 entitlement.

LAs and 14-19 Partnerships have a crucial role in planning how to deliver the 2013 entitlement in their areas. An important feature of Gateway 4 will be to ask LAs to submit a strategic plan showing how access to all Diploma lines will be made available.

Where LAs and consortia achieved Category 3 in Gateway 3 we want to recognise where rapid progress has been made since then and, where appropriate, enable those who are ready to start delivery in 2010.
